[UPDATE 10-10-20] The health and safety of our Eastgate Manor residents, families and employees is our highest priority.

October 10, 2020

Dear Residents, Families and Friends:

The health and safety of our residents and team members has and always will be our highest priority. As we continue to face the uncertainty and concern regarding the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, we continue to follow the guidelines of the Illinois Department of Public Health (“IDPH”), McHenry County Health, and Centers for Disease Control (“CDC”).

Reopening Plans: We are now progressing to Phase 2 which means Residents can start participating in group activities and communal dining. Initially, our groups for both activities and dining room will be limited to ten Residents. In the next few days we will send out a separate letter for activities that will include sign ups, dates, and new rules for how the groups will operate. A letter explaining our new dining system will also be sent. It will explain the rules, schedule and how things will be handled in the dining room. During both activities and dining we will ensure everyone is socially distanced, wearing a mask, and using sanitizer/washing hands as needed.

Indoor and Outdoor Visits: Our outside visits will continue with scheduling going through Silvia Saldivar (Activity Director). Please email Silvia at Silvia.saldivar@eastgatemanor.com to schedule your visit. In the coming weeks we will notify you when we will start our indoor visitations with Residents.

Eastgate has implemented the following control measures to prevent further spread of COVID-19:

Control measures for any resident with signs/symptoms of a respiratory viral infection include: vitals every 4 hours, blood pressure every 8 hours maintaining Standard, Contact, and Droplet Precautions.

Every effort will be made for staff caring for any positive or symptomatic residents NOT to care for negative or asymptomatic residents.

Any resident with new symptoms of fever or lower respiratory illness (cough, shortness of breath, sore throat) will be placed in both Contact and Droplet Transmission Based Precautions upon identification

Determinations to send residents to the hospital are based on the same criteria used for other severe illnesses

Screening all providers and staff members for symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, headache, etc. daily before entering the facility

Strict visitor and non-essential provider restrictions continue

Dining Room, Bistro and Activity areas are closed unless you are schedule to attend at that time. We will only be open for the assigned groups during those listed times.

Ongoing deep clean of the facility, including all common areas

All staff are wearing a mask upon entry into the building and throughout their shift

Our lobby, al coves, and patios will remain closed. Residents are still able to get their mail from the mailroom.

For any Residents who need to go out for any appointment please contact Eastgate’s Nursing Department so they can assist. If there is the potential to have the visit over the computer or phone, we will try to accommodate you. Also, please note that if any Resident has to go out to the hospital or any appointment outside the building you could be quarantined to your room for 14 days as a precaution.

We understand there may be challenges as we begin but we are confident that we will only improve with time. If our region or area has a high rate of infection, we have an unfortunate positive case for COVID-19, or we are directed to stop, we may have to do so at a moment’s notice. We will continue to be in communications regularly with updates. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Jason Benedict
